Indian Navy SSR AA Eligibility Criteria, Educational Qualification and Selection Process

Indian Navy SSR AA Recruitment is the sailor department of the Indian Navy. Indian Navy SSR AA is also known as the Indian Navy Senior Secondary Recruits and Artificer Apprentice Eligibility Test. Indian Navy SSR AA eligibility criteria are determined by Indian Navy officers and are implemented under the official notification. Applicants applying for naval positions as part of Indian Navy recruitment must go through the AA SSR eligibility criteria.

Although, both the job roles are technical in nature and have the same selection process, however there is a huge difference in both job roles.

Navy SSR AA Eligibility

Nationality:

Applicants applying for Indian Navy SSR AA must be Indian citizens.

Gorkha (Nepal) is also eligible to apply for AA positions in the Indian SSR Navy.

The Indian Navy invites applicants through online applications for the AA SSR Officer position every year. And, it is a great opportunity for applicants wishing to pursue a career in the Indian Navy.

Educational Qualification:

The candidates must have completed their 10th or 12th with Maths & Physics and at least one of these subjects: – Chemistry/ Biology/ Computer Science from a recognised educational board.

Age Limit:

The Age Limit prescribed as per the official notification is candidate should be a minimum of 17.5 years and the upper age limit is 23 years.

Required Documents for Navy SSR AA

The documents list that the candidate upload should also be brought for verification on the day of the medical examination at INS Chilka. The documents are:

· Marksheets

· Original certificates,

· NCC certificate,

· Certificate of domicile

The medical examination will be carried out by authorized military doctors according to the medical rules prescribed by the legislation in force applicable to seafarers on entry.

What is the Difference between a Senior Secondary Recruit (SSR) and Artificer Apprentice (AA)

Qualified in 10+2/ equivalent examination with 60% or more marks in aggregate with Maths & Physics and at least one of these subjects; Chemistry/Biology/Computer science.

The qualification criteria for the AA is same as the SSR but there is no percentage boundation in SSR.

Selection Procedure:

The selection processes of both the exams is same as mentioned below:

  1. Computer-Based Examination,
  2. Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and
  • Height : 157 CMS
  • Running : 1.6 Km Completed in 07 Minutes.
  • Squat Ups: 20 Times
  • Push Ups : 10 Times

Indian Navy SSR AA Visual standards

Without glasses: Better eye 6/6, Worst eye 6/9, With glasses: Better Eye 6/6, Worse Eye 6/6

Tattoos: Permanent body tattoos are only allowed on the inner side of the forearms i.e. from the inner side of the elbow to the wrist and on the opposite side of the palm or back (dorsal) of the hand. Permanent body tattoos on any other part of the body are not acceptable, and applicants will not be able to hire.

Training and Advancements:

  • AA:- Selected candidates will undergo Nine weeks Basic Training at INS Chilka followed by Professional training in the allotted trade at various Naval Training Establishments. Branch/ Trade will be allocated as per the requirement of Service.

  • SSR:-Candidates selected will undergo 22 weeks Basic Training at INS Chilka followed by Professional training in the allotted trade in various Naval Training Establishments. Branch/ Trade will be allocated as per the requirement of Service.

Work environment or Job roles:

SSR is a less technical job as compared to AA.

The job role of an artificer includes working on steam powered machinery, diesel and gas turbines, guided missiles and other automatically controlled weapons, sensors avionic equipment, computers and highly advanced radio and electrical power systems.

While the job role of depends on their divided teams. The tasks of a SSR includes operations of various equipment such as radars, sonars or communications or firing of weapons such as missiles, guns or rockets.
